Tuning Buffer Allocation
------------------

The default settings for buffer memory are set quite low.  If you have a 
decent amount of free memory, you can allocate extra space for the 
audio and video buffers. This can help to eliminate jerky DVD playback.

First enable Expert mode:
File -> preferences -> gui -> experience_level
set to Expert, and restart gxine

Now the buffer options are accessable:
File -> preferences -> engine -> buffers

Each buffer is 8k in size. To allocate 4meg to audio & 40meg to video, set
audio_num_buffers = 500
video_num_buffers = 5000


Deinterlace on LCD screens
--------------------------

Dinterlace has no benefit on LCD screens and can badly hurt performance.
Deinterlace can be disabled from the View menu:
View -> Deinterlace (uncheck to disable)

To set deinterlace to default to disabled when gxine starts up, 
edit ~/.gxine/config, and change the following line:
gui.post_plugins.deinterlace_enable:1
to 
gui.post_plugins.deinterlace_enable:0
